Local conversations
Context reads and processes Agent conversations locally. Scanning, full-text search, reading, and export do not upload conversation text to our servers.
For the relationship between original records, the local index, and exports, see Data and privacy.
Online services and payments
Update checks, purchases, activation, periodic license verification, and website account management require internet access. Web links open the corresponding site in your system browser.
Online services store business information such as account email addresses, orders, payment and subscription references, entitlements, and device activations. Payments are handled by a payment service; the Context desktop app does not ask you to enter payment details within the app.
Installation identity and check records
On first launch, the app generates a random installation ID without reading hardware serial numbers. Update checks, activation, and periodic license verification send this ID along with available app version, platform, architecture, operating system version and build, Linux distribution, and resolved interface language information.
The service stores the first and most recent request times for an installation, plus individual check records containing the time, type, trigger, outcome, and environment snapshot. These help analyze version distribution, usage, and compatibility problems. Check logs currently have no automatic age-based deletion.
The installation ID is independent of activation credentials. Deactivation and account changes preserve it. Activation records can associate an installation with an account, so the ID does not guarantee anonymity.
Network requests also generate access logs containing information such as IP addresses, paths, and User-Agent headers. Installation statistics and check records do not contain conversation text.
