Scan conversations
After an Agent saves new conversations or messages, scan to bring them into Context.
Automatic scans
Section titled “Automatic scans”Once you allow Context to read conversations during your first scan, it scans automatically each time you open the app. This picks up content added or changed since your last visit. For your first scan, see Quick start.
Scan manually
Section titled “Scan manually”If new content is saved while Context is open, scan manually:
- Click Scan now in Agent Sources.
- Or click the scan icon at the top of the sidebar.
Context checks for new and changed records, usually skipping content it has already processed that has not changed. If an Agent is still generating a reply, wait for it to save before scanning to read more of the conversation.
What gets scanned
Section titled “What gets scanned”Agent Sources lists the source directories for each Agent. Context scans only supported sources it can discover. See Supported Agents for supported apps, extensions, and command-line tools.
Scanning covers local records on this computer.
View updated conversations
Section titled “View updated conversations”You can check scan progress and the number of conversations found for each Agent in Agent Sources. After scanning:
- New conversations appear in Conversations.
- Open an existing conversation to read its new messages.
- New content becomes searchable once its search index is ready.
If you are viewing search results, submit the search again after indexing finishes.
If expected conversations are missing, first check the source directories and conversation counts in Agent Sources. Any reading issues are also shown beside the affected source. See Frequently asked questions for more help.
Opening conversations requires the Agent’s original files. To keep important conversations, export them while those files are available. See Data and privacy.
